Happy Friday! Yessssss! We made it to the end of the week.
Lets finish strong now. Today is my little baby’s Birthday.
She is 8 years old. This little girl got me wrapped around her finger.
She had a pool party a couple months ago so she could have fun with friends, I got her presents.
She wanted a turtle about a month ago, so I got 2 tortoises for her birthday LOL.. 🤦🏻♂️
Then she hit me with the I thought we were going to go swim with the dolphins, the turtles were supposed to be instead of the dolphins....🤷🏻♂️
But I folded when she asked, I said ok baby we will go swim with the dolphins too... lol .. 🙄🤣🤣
Mommy doesn't know about this... she will find out when she reads this... hahah
Lets jump into our very important lesson today about Self Care and being beneficially selfish.
One of the biggest if not the biggest barrier to practicing self-care is guilt.
There’s the belief that taking care of yourself leaves less time and energy for others.
Self care is “other care”. In other words, practicing self-care helps us help others more effectively.
Making time for ourselves often means saying no to others turning down a night out, or phone call with a friend in need of advice.
One major pitfall of the digital age? 24/7 reachability makes it nearly impossible to take a step back, and texts and calls from family and friends can serve as a constant reminder of what you “should” be doing instead.
Put your phone on do-not-disturb whenever you’re engaging in a self-care activity.
That way, you won’t get sucked back into your emotional web, but you won’t miss emergencies, either.
And if someone questions your self-care time, try to stand firm.
Your time is your time, and taking care of yourself means you can better care for others in the future.
Never feel guilty for wanting to take care of yourself; do the workout, journal, read the book, drink the coffee, or watch that show alone.
Whatever self care looks like for you, do it.
Since we have so many Moms and Women in our gym, I see this reoccurring issue of them putting themselves last.
It's so critical to be "beneficially selfish" because everyone will get the best version of you if you feel great, have energy and your mindset is sound.
Homework: Set up some self care for yourself. ENJOY IT!
